Renovations

We have spent the last few years fighting algae and trying to keep the pool in working condition. This  year we did something about it. Here are the before and after pictures.  The boys though the whole process was super exciting and it really was.  Their favorite part was when they were "shooting the pool".   Or course, they had to go "swimming" the very first day the pool was finished.  Brrrrr, it was cold!

Before

Drained

Tile and old coping completely demolished

Telling the boys to stay out of the pool was like telling them to stare at a bowl of ice cream and not eat it.....It is amazing how much bigger it looks without water in it!

He had to leave his mark!

Tile and stone work is done.  The surface is prepped and ready to go.

Preparing to "shoot the pool."  That means resurface the bottom and walls with gunnite that has tiny pebbles and abalone shells in it.  It was an amazing process!

The special shoes the "worker men" had to wear so they could walk on the new surface.

The buckets o' tools.

Almost ready...

Time to shoot the pool!

Time to filler 'er up!  I'm scared to think about the water bill.  YIKES!

The finished product!  Who has time for bathing suits?!
